Using IMS Agricultural Science Curriculum

Curriculum materials produced by IMS for Agricultural Science & Technology courses include both student and teacher materials.

Student Materials

Student Material Topics. Student materials for each Agricultural Science & Technology course consist of individual topics printed in an 8½” X 11” booklet format.

  • Each student material topic presents technical information relating to the topic title and at a readability level comparable to that of students in middle and secondary schools.
  • Detailed line drawings in each topic enhance the textual information and provide additional explanation. Digital photos enhance selected topics.
  • Technical terms underlined in the topic text are defined in a Glossary of Terms.
  • A list of references within each topic provides the reader with sources for additional research and information.
  • Selected Student Activities in each topic consist of short answer and objective-type questions to reinforce student understanding of major facts and information presented in the topic.
  • A listing of Advanced Student Activities provides students with additional ideas and opportunities for “hands-on” and “out-of-classroom” learning.
  • Topic titles in each course are derived from the outline of units and topics of instruction presented in the course curriculum guide.
  • Student material topics are priced for individual purchase and for purchase as a complete set. A complete set of student material topics for a course is available in the form of a shrink-wrapped set of individual topics, or in a bound form with a glued spine and paperback cover.

Teacher Materials

Curriculum Guide. The curriculum guide is designed to assist instructors and administrators in the organization and documentation of lessons. The curriculum guide for each Agricultural Science & Technology course features:

  • The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) which are the course competencies that define the curriculum framework for the specific Agricultural Science & Technology course.
  • An instructional delivery outline that shows the units and topics of instruction for the course, suggested hours of instruction for semester-based delivery, TEKS correlation, and alignment to IMS curriculum materials.
  • Specific goals and objectives for each unit and topic of instruction, which are particularly useful to teachers in preparing lesson plans and selecting materials for meeting individual student needs.

Teacher’s Key for Student Material Topics. The teacher’s key provides the answers to the questions and activities presented in the Selected Student Activities section of each student material topic for the course.

Topic Tests. A topic test is a one-page test developed for each student material topic in a specific course. The topic test consists of objective-type questions that relate to the topic objectives and the information presented in the topic. Topic tests are only available in a set for a specific course.

Teacher’s Key to Topic Tests. The teacher’s key provides the answers to the questions presented in the set of topic tests for a specific course.

Lesson Plan Labels. Lesson plan labels are adhesive labels designed for teacher use in lesson plan preparation. Each label contains the course name, unit and topic of instruction, TEKS correlation, and an alignment to corresponding IMS curriculum materials. A set of lesson plan labels for a specific Agricultural Science & Technology course contains the same number of labels as indicated for the suggested hours of topic instruction listed in the curriculum guide.
