Construction-Maintenance Systems

Construction-Maintenance Systems courses are designed to provide skills and a basic understanding of career opportunities and training requirements in seven general construction-related careers: heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC-R); masonry trades; carpentry; residential electrical trades; painting and decorating; piping trade/plumber; and related construction trades.

IMS offers Introduction to Construction Careers, a curriculum designed to provide a basic understanding of career opportunities, training requirements, job outlook, and minimal job-entry skills in construction-related careers. Curriculum guides, lesson plans, student activities, and teacher keys are available. The curriculum is aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS).

IMS supplies curriculum materials designed to provide job-specific training in entry-level employment in seven construction related careers including Building Carpentry, Building Electrical Trades, Concrete Laying & Finishing, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Masonry Service, Mill & Cabinetmaking, Painting & Decorating, and Piping Trades & Plumbing. Curriculum guides, lesson plans, student activities, competency profiles, and teacher’s keys are offered in all areas.

Videotapes, illustrations, and transparencies are available to enhance the curriculum.
