Personal & Protective Service Systems

Personal & Protective Service Systems courses cover a broad field of work-based knowledge including cosmetology, culinary arts, upholstery, floriculture, barbering, fire science technology, laundry service, leather trades, and criminal justice.

The Cosmetology curriculum guide is aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). This curriculum guide was aligned by the Cosmetology Instructors of Public Schools (CIPS) organization and IMS staff.

The Criminal Justice courses are Tech Prep articulated, aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), and the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). Introduction to Criminal Justice, Crime in America, and Correctional Systems and Practices are three new IMS developed curriculum that include a comprehensive Instructor's Guide and Student Materials. The Instructor's Guide includes general course information, lesson plans, additional student activities, resource guides, student activity keys, and unit tests and keys. The Student Materials include student references and student activities.

Videotapes and CD-ROMs are available to enhance the curriculum.
