Independent Contractor Opportunities

Subject Matter Expert (SME) – IMS establishes independent contracts with SME writers possessing technical knowledge and quality writing credentials in specific subject areas. The primary audience of IMS curriculum materials is 9th - 12th grade secondary students. Writers should have good computer and word processing skills and knowledge of the secondary programs of foundation subjects and agricultural science and technology and/or trade and industrial education. Compensation for writing is negotiable.

Editor – IMS establishes independent contracts with editors who have technical editing skills. A bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or related area is preferred. Edits may be recorded by hand or electronically using Track Changes features of word processing. The primary audience of IMS materials is 9th - 12th grade secondary students. Compensation is negotiable depending upon time frame for completing, document length, and the type or level of edit needed.

SME-Writer – Horticulture System, Agriscience 361, Landscape Design, Construction and Maintenance Student topics for which writing opportunities are available include Planning and Installing Sprinklers Systems for Residential Landscapes, Installing Pavers in Landscape Development, and Using Surveying Systems in Landscape Development. Editor-IMS – depends on editors on an intermittent basis. IMS maintains a list of qualified editors. If you are interested in editing at IMS on an independent contractor basis, please follow the application procedure.
